BIOGRAPHY

Chris Isaak is a crooner in the Roy Orbison mold, who has been active on the music scene long before he broke through in the late ’80s. After signing a recording contract in 1985, Chris Isaak and his band, Silvertone, moved through three years and two albums with little success, apart from “Blue Hotel,” which was a hit in France. The self-titled follow-up saw him hone his style to sophisticated R&B. Isaak’s 1989 album, “Heart Shaped World,” began selling strongly out of the gate and achieved double-platinum status. He had a major hit in December 1990 with “Wicked Game.” Both his 1993 album “San Francisco Days” and 1995’s “Forever Blue” also achieved gold record status. In 1996, Isaak released “The Baja Sessions.” Isaak also starred in his own critically-acclaimed cable television Showtime series, “The Chris Isaak Show,” which was launched in March 2001. Isaak’s busy touring schedule and growing visibility as an actor kept him out of the recording studio until 2002, when he released “Always Got Tonight.” Chris once again flexed his TV muscles in 2009 with “The Chris Isaak Hour,” whose debut on The Biography Channel was promoted in part by “Mr. Lucky,” his first album of original material in seven years. In 2011, Isaak paid tribute to the classic ’50s rockabilly and country music produced at Memphis’ Sun Records with his album, “Beyond the Sun,” delivering cuts originally recorded by such artists as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and others. In 2015, Chris released “First Comes the Night.” Chris Isaak shows no signs of slowing down – and he continues to tour the world.
