Superstar actress/singer Jennifer Lopez was born in the Bronx. Her first break came when she was tapped to become a “Fly Girls” on Fox TV’s In Living Color. Lopez was then thrust into the limelight, co-starring with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in Money Train; she then llanded the title role in 1997’s Selena, portraying the slain tejano singer. Co-starring opposite George Clooney in 1998’s Out of Sight, Lopez became the highest-paid Latina actress in Hollywood history; the following summer, she returned to her roots with her debut album, On the 6, scoring a major hit with the single, “If You Had My Love.” Her sophomore effort, the appropriately titled J.Lo, dropped in early 2001. The Spanish-language album Como Ama una Mujer hit in 2007 and remained at the top of the Latin charts for seven consecutive weeks. In 2010, Lopez joined the judges’ table on “American Idol” with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Jennifer released A.K.A. With a cumulative film gross of US $3.1 billion and estimated global sales of 80 million records, Lopez is regarded as the most influential Latin performer in the U.S. In 2012, Forbes ranked her as the most powerful celebrity in the world.
