BIOGRAPHY

Little Texas was founded by singer Tim Rushlow and singer-guitarist Dwayne O’Brien, who first performed together in Arlington, Texas, in 1984. They renewed their partnership in Nashville in 1987 and fleshed out the band with lead guitarist Porter Howell and bassist Duane Propes. They spent the next few years working the club circuit and added drummer Del Gray and singer-keyboardist Brady Seals, whom they met while out on tour. Seals also began to share lead vocals with Rushlow and O’Brien. Settling on Little Texas as their name, the group landed a contract with Warner Bros. in 1989 and toured heavily to build an audience. Their debut single, 1991’s “Some Guys Have All the Love,” quickly hit the Top 10, and its follow-up, “First Time for Everything,” just missed duplicating that feat. The group’s 1992 debut album spawned two more hits in “You and Forever and Me” and “I’d Rather Miss You.” However, the 1993 album Big Time sold more than 1.5 million copies due to the hits “What Might Have Been,” “God Blessed Texas” and their first and only No. 1, “My Love.” However, their momentum faded after 1995’s Greatest Hits. By then, Seals had already left the band, and Rushlow later followed, first for a solo career and then to form a new unit, Rushlow. The band now includes original members Howell (lead vocals and lead guitar), O’Brien (vocals and rhythm guitars), Propes (bass and vocals) and Gray (drums). They tour regularly and can still deliver the goods – and then some.
